All Young Thug Albums Ranked Best to Worst (2026)

Young Thug has released four studio albums, and this page ranks all four — So Much Fun, Punk, Business Is Business and UY Scuti — plus two landmark commercial mixtapes that fans treat as albums, Barter 6 (2015) and Jeffery (2016), for six projects in total. His other mixtapes (including the 1017 Thug and Slime Season series, I'm Up and Beautiful Thugger Girls), his EPs, the collaborative tape Super Slimey with Future and the YSL Slime Language compilations are not ranked.

Why it ranks here

Jeffery is Young Thug's most fearless record. Nearly every track is named after one of his heroes — "Wyclef Jean", "Swizz Beatz", "RiRi", "Kanye West" — and he uses each as a launch pad for a different voice: crooning, yelping, sputtering over Wheezy, TM88 and Billboard Hitmakers beats. The dress on the cover went viral, but the music held up its end; it scored 82 on Metacritic and landed on year-end lists from Pitchfork, Complex and Rolling Stone.

Context

Released August 26, 2016 through 300 Entertainment and Atlantic as his fourth commercial mixtape; it debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, and for its rollout he briefly went by No, My Name Is Jeffery.

Highlights

  • Wyclef Jean
  • Floyd Mayweather
  • Harambe
  • Webbie
  • Kanye West

Weak Spots

  • "Future Swag" is slight next to the rest
  • The bonus "Pick Up the Phone" feels like a different project

Production

Wheezy · TM88 · Billboard Hitmakers · Cassius Jay

Influence

The dress cover and the comedy-of-errors "Wyclef Jean" video made it a cultural moment, and its shape-shifting vocals pointed the way for melodic rap's next wave.

Replay Value

Very high — forty-two minutes with no wasted song.

Why it ranks here

Barter 6 is where Young Thug's style became a sound. Wheezy and London on da Track built most of it, giving him sparse, bouncing beats to twist his voice around; "Check" became a calling card, and "With That", "Halftime" and "Constantly Hating" show how much melody he could squeeze from a hook. Metacritic logged a 72, a score that undersells how widely it was imitated.

Context

Released April 2015 through 300 Entertainment, it was first titled Carter 6, which drew Lil Wayne's ire amid his dispute with Birdman; it peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard 200.

Highlights

  • Constantly Hating
  • With That
  • Check
  • Halftime
  • Just Might Be

Weak Spots

  • Fifty-two minutes is long for its narrow palette
  • Several guest spots add little

Production

Wheezy · London on da Track

Influence

Its Wheezy and London on da Track beats became a blueprint for Atlanta's melodic trap in the years that followed.

Replay Value

High — "Check" and "With That" never left the rotation.

Why it ranks here

So Much Fun lives up to its title. Young Thug's first official studio album is loose and generous, with Pi'erre Bourne, Wheezy and Southside supplying bright beats and a guest list that runs from Future to Lil Uzi Vert. "Hot" with Gunna and "The London" with J. Cole and Travis Scott were hits, and the album scored 79 on Metacritic.

Context

Released August 16, 2019 through YSL, 300 and Atlantic; it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 131,000 units and was certified Platinum.

Highlights

  • Just How It Is
  • Hot
  • Surf
  • Lil Baby
  • The London

Weak Spots

  • Nineteen tracks is too many
  • Some features feel like YSL label business

Production

Wheezy · Pi'erre Bourne · T-Minus · Southside

Influence

Turned years of mixtape influence into commercial dominance with Gunna featured on two of its biggest songs.

Replay Value

High — the first half is a party playlist on its own.

Why it ranks here

Young Thug described Punk as more personal and introspective than So Much Fun, and the best songs bear that out: "Die Slow" and "Stressed" open on a weary note, and "Day Before" with the late Mac Miller is moving. NME praised it as inventive and Pitchfork found much to like, but twenty tracks and a long celebrity guest list blunt the effect. Metacritic logged a 78.

Context

Released October 15, 2021 through YSL, 300 and Atlantic; it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 90,000 units, seven months before his arrest in the YSL case.

Highlights

  • Die Slow
  • Stressed
  • Stupid/Asking
  • Bubbly
  • Day Before

Weak Spots

  • Sprawling at twenty songs
  • Pop crossovers like "Love You More" feel forced

Production

Charlie Handsome · Wheezy · Metro Boomin · T-Minus · Pi'erre Bourne

Influence

Showed a quieter side of Thug, and its Mac Miller duet became one of the posthumous songs fans return to most.

Replay Value

Moderate — the opening run and "Day Before" are worth keeping.

Why it ranks here

Business Is Business was released while Young Thug was in jail awaiting trial, and it feels assembled rather than made. Metro Boomin, the executive producer, gives it a dark polish — "Parade on Cleveland", "Want Me Dead" and "Jonesboro" are strong — but the album leans on Drake, Future, 21 Savage and Travis Scott, and Metro released his own re-sequenced version four days later. Metacritic logged a 64.

Context

Released June 23, 2023 through YSL, 300 and Atlantic, more than a year into his incarceration on RICO charges; it debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

Highlights

  • Parade on Cleveland
  • Oh U Went
  • Abracadabra
  • Want Me Dead
  • Jonesboro

Weak Spots

  • Thug often sounds like a guest on his own album
  • Two official sequences suggest no settled vision

Production

Metro Boomin · Wheezy · London on da Track · Dr. Luke

Influence

Kept his name in the charts during the trial, but added little to his legacy.

Replay Value

Low to moderate — a handful of Metro Boomin tracks.

Why it ranks here

UY Scuti, named after a red supergiant star, was Young Thug's first album after his release from jail in October 2024, and it is his weakest. The cover and the opener "Ninja" were widely panned, Pitchfork gave it a 4.3, and Metacritic logged a 50. There are flashes — "Money on Money" and "Miss My Dogs" — but much of it sounds defensive rather than inspired.

Context

Released September 26, 2025 through YSL, Atlantic and 300; it debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, his ninth top-ten album.

Highlights

  • Catch Me I'm Falling
  • Whoopty Doo
  • Walk Down
  • Money on Money
  • Miss My Dogs

Weak Spots

  • "Ninja" sets a poor tone
  • Feels reactive to the trial's fallout rather than focused

Production

Wheezy · London on da Track · Metro Boomin · TM88 · Southside

Influence

Limited so far; its reception showed how much goodwill the trial had cost him.

Replay Value

Low — the singles are enough.

Essay

The Complete Picture

Young Thug's peak lives in his mixtapes. Jeffery is the most adventurous thing he has made, and Barter 6 is the tape where the Thug sound locked into place. So Much Fun turned that sound into a number one album and Punk showed a more reflective side, but Business Is Business and UY Scuti, shaped by the YSL case, are the weakest entries here.

Start with Jeffery, then Barter 6, then So Much Fun for the hits.
