All YG Albums Ranked Best to Worst (2026)

YG has released seven studio albums, and this page ranks all seven, from My Krazy Life (2014) to The Gentlemen's Club (2026). His collaborative albums, Kommunity Service with Mozzy and Hit Me When U Leave the Klub: The Playlist with Tyga, are not ranked, and neither are mixtapes such as 4Hunnid Degreez, Red Friday or the Just Re'd Up series.

Why it ranks here

My Krazy Life tells one day in YG's young life as a story, from party to robbery to jail, framed by his mother's voice. DJ Mustard's minimal, handclap-driven beats were the sound of Los Angeles in 2014, and "Left, Right", "Who Do You Love?" with Drake and "Really Be (Smokin N Drinkin)" with Kendrick Lamar are standouts. Rolling Stone called it the most ambitious rap concept LP in a while, and Spin compared it to good kid, m.A.A.d city. It scored 80 on Metacritic.

Context

Released March 18, 2014 on Pushaz Ink, CTE World and Def Jam, after years of mixtapes including the Mustard-produced 4Hunnid Degreez.

Highlights

  • BPT
  • Left, Right
  • Who Do You Love?
  • Really Be (Smokin N Drinkin)
  • Bompton

Weak Spots

  • A couple of party tracks feel like filler
  • The story can blur on casual listens

Production

DJ Mustard · Ty Dolla Sign · Terrace Martin · Metro Boomin · Mike Free

Influence

Debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and its lead single went five times platinum, making Mustard's sound the West Coast standard.

Replay Value

Very high — it plays like a film.

Why it ranks here

Without Mustard, YG turned to Swish, P-Lo and Terrace Martin for a G-funk-rooted sound that suits the album's paranoia. The first half is tense and personal, with "Who Shot Me?" at its center, and the second half turns outward with the protest song "FDT" with Nipsey Hussle. Pitchfork called it the record that made YG a torchbearer for West Coast gangsta rap. It scored 83 on Metacritic, his best.

Context

Released June 14, 2016 on 4Hunnid, CTE World and Def Jam, in the middle of the 2016 presidential campaign.

Highlights

  • Don't Come to LA
  • Who Shot Me?
  • Twist My Fingaz
  • Why You Always Hatin?
  • FDT

Weak Spots

  • Fewer pop hooks than My Krazy Life
  • The political turn arrives late

Production

Swish · P-Lo · Terrace Martin · Hit-Boy · Ty Dolla Sign

Influence

Debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold; "FDT" became one of the era's defining protest songs.

Replay Value

Very high — the most cohesive YG album.

Why it ranks here

YG's seventh album took two years to make and turns inward, examining image, self-worth and insecurity while keeping his club-rap instincts. GQ called it his strongest album since My Krazy Life, and Rolling Stone praised its return to narrative writing on songs like "We Know the Truth" and "Hollywood". The story song "Tiffany" drew criticism for its handling of transphobic violence, and Beats per Minute found some of its conceptual swings uneven.

Context

Released June 19, 2026 on 4Hunnid under an exclusive license to 10K Projects, his first album after leaving Def Jam; guests include Pusha T, Tyler, the Creator, JID and Ab-Soul.

Highlights

  • Kudos
  • We Know the Truth
  • Hollywood
  • Gang Bizness
  • Writing My Wrongs

Weak Spots

  • "Tiffany" misjudges its subject
  • Some concepts outrun the execution

Production

Ty Dolla Sign · Jay Versace · Kofo · Drew80HD · Smoke Terrific

Influence

Too new to measure, but its critical reception was his best in a decade.

Replay Value

High — rewards close listening.

Why it ranks here

Stay Dangerous brings DJ Mustard back for about half the album, and YG sounds comfortable riding his beats again. "Big Bank" with 2 Chainz, Big Sean and Nicki Minaj became a four-times-platinum hit, and "Suu Whoop" and "Bulletproof" are pure energy. It has less to say than Still Brazy. It scored 71 on Metacritic.

Context

Released August 3, 2018 on 4Hunnid and Def Jam.

Highlights

  • Bulletproof
  • Suu Whoop
  • Big Bank
  • Too Cocky
  • Bomptown Finest

Weak Spots

  • Thin on ideas after Still Brazy
  • Repetitive in the back half

Production

DJ Mustard · Mike Will Made It · TM88 · KJ Santana · MP808

Influence

Debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200; "Big Bank" peaked at No. 16 on the Hot 100.

Replay Value

High for the singles, moderate overall.

Why it ranks here

4Real 4Real was delayed after the killing of YG's friend Nipsey Hussle, and it closes with a tribute that is the album's emotional center. Elsewhere it chases radio, with "Go Loko" becoming a platinum hit. Hit-Boy, Mustard and Swish keep it polished, but it feels assembled rather than written as an album. It scored 70 on Metacritic.

Context

Released May 24, 2019 on 4Hunnid and Def Jam, after being pulled from its planned Coachella-weekend release.

Highlights

  • Hard Bottoms & White Socks
  • Go Loko
  • Stop Snitchin
  • Heart 2 Heart
  • My Last Words

Weak Spots

  • Playlist-style sequencing
  • Several songs feel generic

Production

Mustard · Hit-Boy · Swish · Cubeatz · Tariq Beats

Influence

Debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200; "Go Loko" went platinum.

Replay Value

Moderate — a few songs earn repeat plays.

Why it ranks here

Named for the block in Compton where he grew up, My Life 4Hunnid runs just 32 minutes and is built around the protest single "FTP", released during the Black Lives Matter protests. The anger is real, but too many tracks lean on trendy guests and quick ideas.

Context

Released October 2, 2020 on 4Hunnid and Def Jam.

Highlights

  • Jealous
  • Out On Bail
  • Swag
  • FTP
  • Laugh Now Kry Later!

Weak Spots

  • Feels rushed
  • Guest-heavy middle stretch

Production

Scoop DeVille · Swish · Tariq Beats · Mike Crook · Iceberg

Influence

Debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with 64,000 album-equivalent units.

Replay Value

Moderate — the singles hold up.

Why it ranks here

Originally titled Pray for Me, I Got Issues spreads across too many directions, from "Scared Money" with J. Cole and Moneybagg Yo to a Latin crossover and a Nas collaboration. It has moments, but no clear center. It scored 58 on Metacritic, his lowest.

Context

Released September 30, 2022 on 4Hunnid and Def Jam, his final solo album for the label.

Highlights

  • Issues
  • Toxic
  • Scared Money
  • Maniac
  • No Weapon

Weak Spots

  • No consistent sound
  • Weakest writing of his career

Production

Swish · Bijan Amir · Larry Jayy · Hit-Boy · Terrace Martin

Influence

Peaked at No. 18 on the Billboard 200.

Replay Value

Low — rarely worth a full replay.

Essay

The Complete Picture

YG's first two albums are the essential pair: My Krazy Life is the concept album that defined ratchet-era Los Angeles, and Still Brazy is its tougher, more political answer. Stay Dangerous and The Gentlemen's Club are the best of the rest, while the middle albums are strongest as collections of singles.

Start with My Krazy Life, then Still Brazy. For the newer YG, go straight to The Gentlemen's Club.
