Conway the Machine has released five studio albums, and this page ranks all five, from From King to a God (2020) to You Can't Kill God with Bullets (2025). Why it ranks here

Originally meant to be his debut and delayed for years, God Don't Make Mistakes is the album where Conway opens up with real candor about his life. The production — the Alchemist, Daringer, Beat Butcha, Hit-Boy, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League — is ornate without going soft, and the title track with Annette Price closes it on a raw note. AllMusic called it easily his most impressive work, and it scored 81 on Metacritic.

Context

Released February 25, 2022 through Drumwork, Griselda, Shady and Interscope — four days after Conway announced he was leaving Shady and Griselda.

Highlights

  • Lock Load
  • Piano Love
  • Stressed
  • John Woo Flick
  • God Don't Make Mistakes

Weak Spots

  • Some critics found the production comfortable rather than remarkable
  • "Tear Gas" feels built for a playlist

Production

The Alchemist · Daringer · Beat Butcha · Hit-Boy · J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League

Influence

Showed that the Griselda sound could carry a vulnerable, autobiographical album on a major label.

Replay Value

High.

Why it ranks here

Conway called it his album before the album, and it plays like a victory lap after years of mixtapes: DJ Premier, Havoc, Erick Sermon, Hit-Boy and the Alchemist on the beats; Method Man, Freddie Gibbs, Lloyd Banks and his Griselda partners on the mic. It scored 82 on Metacritic, and "Lemon" with Method Man is one of his best songs.

Context

His debut solo studio album, released September 11, 2020 through Griselda, Drumwork and Empire; a deluxe edition followed in December 2020.

Highlights

  • Lemon
  • Fear of God
  • Dough & Damani
  • Seen Everything but Jesus
  • Spurs 3

Weak Spots

  • Pitchfork's 6.9 argued he was aiming higher than this
  • "Forever Droppin Tears" runs nearly eight minutes

Production

Beat Butcha · Daringer · The Alchemist · DJ Premier · Hit-Boy

Influence

Consequence called it arguably one of the best Griselda projects so far; it proved he could hold an album alongside legends.

Replay Value

Very high.

Why it ranks here

His first album after leaving Shady and Griselda, recorded over several months in Denver, is deliberately the opposite of its predecessor: opulent horns, orchestral swells and a mood of thanks rather than pain. Daringer and J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League do much of the work, Westside Gunn appears on "Brucifix", and on "Kanye" and "Monogram" he recalls conversations with Kanye West and Jay-Z.

Context

Released May 5, 2023 through Drumwork Music Group and Empire; its cover was the first to show Conway's face head-on.

Highlights

  • Brucifix
  • Monogram
  • Kanye
  • Brooklyn Chop House
  • Quarters

Weak Spots

  • Less emotional weight than God Don't Make Mistakes
  • Refines the sound rather than changing it

Production

Daringer · J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League · Khrysis · Juicy J · E. Jones

Influence

Established Drumwork as his independent base.

Replay Value

High.

Why it ranks here

First announced as a B-side record to Won't He Do It, Slant Face Killah grew into a sixty-minute album with Method Man, Raekwon, Joey Badass, Larry June, Ab-Soul and Tech N9ne. The highs are real — the Alchemist's "The Red Moon in Osaka" with Raekwon, Conductor Williams on "Mutty" and "Kin Xpress" — but the length and the guest traffic dilute it.

Context

Released May 10, 2024 through Drumwork and Empire.

Highlights

  • The Red Moon in Osaka
  • Mutty
  • Kin Xpress
  • Vertino
  • Meth Back!

Weak Spots

  • Sixty minutes is too long
  • Features sometimes crowd him out

Production

Conductor Williams · Daringer · The Alchemist · Camoflauge Monk · Beat Butcha

Influence

Showed his pull with veteran and younger rappers alike.

Replay Value

Moderate.

Why it ranks here

His fifth studio album gathers producers from Apollo Brown and Daringer to Timbaland and the Alchemist, with Roc Marciano on "Diamonds" and G Herbo on "Nu Devils". It is reliable Conway, vivid and unhurried, but at seventeen tracks it adds little to what the earlier albums established.

Context

Released December 12, 2025 through Drumwork, preceded by the singles "Se7enteen5ive", "Diamonds" and "BMG".

Highlights

  • Diamonds
  • The Painter
  • Se7enteen5ive
  • Nu Devils
  • Organized Mess

Weak Spots

  • Seventeen tracks with some filler
  • Few surprises

Production

Daringer · Conductor Williams · The Alchemist · Apollo Brown · Timbaland

Influence

Too recent to judge.

Replay Value

Moderate.

Essay

The Complete Picture

Conway's two Griselda-era albums remain his best: From King to a God as the star-studded statement, God Don't Make Mistakes as the personal one. The Drumwork albums since are consistent and well produced but rarely surprising.

Start with From King to a God for the energy, then God Don't Make Mistakes for the story.
