All Future Albums Ranked Best to Worst (2026)

Future has released ten solo studio albums, and this page ranks all ten plus Monster, the 2014 mixtape fans treat as an album, from Pluto (2012) to The Real Me (2026). His other mixtapes (including Dirty Sprite, Beast Mode, 56 Nights, Purple Reign and 2024's Mixtape Pluto), his collaborative projects (What a Time to Be Alive with Drake, Super Slimey with Young Thug, Pluto x Baby Pluto with Lil Uzi Vert, and We Don't Trust You and We Still Don't Trust You with Metro Boomin) and the Superfly soundtrack are not ranked.

Why it ranks here

DS2 is Future at full concentration. Metro Boomin, Southside and Zaytoven build cold, cavernous beats, and Future raps about excess as both celebration and self-destruction. "Thought It Was a Drought" sets the tone, and "Blood on the Money" closes with real weariness. It scored 80 on Metacritic, and Pitchfork praised how focused and vulnerable it sounded. It appears on several best-of-the-2010s lists, including Billboard's.

Context

His third studio album, released July 17, 2015 as a sequel to his 2011 mixtape Dirty Sprite. It was his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with 151,000 units, and is certified triple platinum.

Highlights

  • Thought It Was a Drought
  • I Serve the Base
  • Where Ya At
  • Stick Talk
  • Blood on the Money

Weak Spots

  • The relentless mood can feel monotonous
  • The deluxe tracks dilute the tight standard edition

Production

Metro Boomin · Southside · Zaytoven · Sonny Digital

Influence

Set the template for the dark, druggy trap sound that dominated the second half of the 2010s.

Replay Value

Very high — it still sounds like the center of the genre.

Why it ranks here

Monster arrived months after Honest and sounded like a different artist: bitter, wounded and hungry. Metro Boomin executive produced it, and the only guest is Lil Wayne on "After That". It began what has been called a trilogy of album-quality mixtapes with Beast Mode and 56 Nights, and Robert Christgau gave it a B+. Many fans still consider it one of his best works.

Context

Released free on October 28, 2014 through Freebandz, and added to streaming services for its fifth anniversary in 2019.

Highlights

  • Radical
  • Monster
  • After That
  • Throw Away
  • Codeine Crazy

Weak Spots

  • A couple of mid-tape tracks are interchangeable
  • The original free version and the 2019 streaming version differ

Production

Metro Boomin · Southside · TM88 · Nard & B · DJ Spinz

Influence

Its sound and mood fed directly into DS2, and "Codeine Crazy" remains one of his signature songs.

Replay Value

Very high — the rawest version of his voice.

Why it ranks here

Honest is Future's most generous pop record. Mike Will Made It, Metro Boomin and Organized Noize give it scale, and the guest list — Pharrell, Pusha T, Kanye West, Drake, André 3000, Lil Wayne — never overwhelms him. Rolling Stone called it weirder and grander than his debut, and it scored 80 on Metacritic. "Move That Dope" and "I Won" are among his best singles.

Context

His second studio album, released April 22, 2014. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and is certified Gold.

Highlights

  • Move That Dope
  • Honest
  • I Won
  • Benz Friendz (Whatchutola)
  • Covered N Money

Weak Spots

  • AllMusic noted that some of its best bangers were left to the deluxe edition
  • Feels more polished than personal

Production

Mike Will Made It · Metro Boomin · DJ Spinz · Sonny Digital · Organized Noize

Influence

Confirmed Future as a mainstream star and set up the creative surge that followed months later.

Replay Value

High — singles-heavy and easy to dip into.

Why it ranks here

Released one week after Future, Hndrxx shows the other side: sung, lovesick and lush. "Comin Out Strong" with the Weeknd and "Selfish" with Rihanna are its centerpieces, and Detail, Major Seven and Metro Boomin give it a softer palette. It scored 78 on Metacritic and landed on year-end lists from Complex, Pitchfork, Fact and Entertainment Weekly.

Context

His sixth studio album, released February 24, 2017. It debuted at No. 1, making Future the first artist to top the Billboard 200 with new albums in consecutive weeks.

Highlights

  • Comin Out Strong
  • Selfish
  • Incredible
  • Use Me
  • Fresh Air

Weak Spots

  • Seventeen tracks and nearly seventy minutes long
  • The ballads start to blur in the back half

Production

Detail · Major Seven · Metro Boomin · Southside · Dre Moon

Influence

Showed that a trap star could make a convincing full-length R&B album, a move many peers followed.

Replay Value

High — a late-night record that holds up.

Why it ranks here

Pluto introduced Future's strange mix of Auto-Tuned melody and street rap to a national audience. "Tony Montana" with Drake, "Magic" with T.I. and "Turn On the Lights" were hits, and Will-A-Fool, Sonny Digital and Mike Will Made It shaped a purple, spacey sound. Pitchfork said it sounded instantly different, though AllMusic found it redundant at fifteen tracks. It scored 68 on Metacritic.

Context

His debut studio album, released April 17, 2012 in the US. It debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and was reissued later that year as Pluto 3D.

Highlights

  • Tony Montana
  • Magic (Remix)
  • Same Damn Time
  • Turn On the Lights
  • Neva End

Weak Spots

  • Fact called it template rap
  • The lyrics are often clumsy

Production

Will-A-Fool · Sonny Digital · Mike Will Made It · K.E. on the Track

Influence

Its melodic approach to trap influenced a generation of Atlanta rappers who sing their hooks.

Replay Value

Moderate to high — the singles still land.

Why it ranks here

I Never Liked You is Future's strongest album since Hndrxx. ATL Jacob, Wheezy, Southside and TM88 keep the beats tight, and "Wait for U" with Drake and Tems became one of his biggest songs. Rolling Stone said it was no DS2 but had a compositional sweep often missing from his work. It scored 69 on Metacritic.

Context

His ninth studio album, released April 29, 2022. It debuted at No. 1 with 222,000 units, his eighth chart-topper, and is certified double platinum.

Highlights

  • 712PM
  • Keep It Burnin
  • Wait for U
  • Love You Better
  • Puffin on Zootiez

Weak Spots

  • HipHopDX felt it settled for comfort over experimentation
  • Sixteen tracks with some repetition

Production

ATL Jacob · Wheezy · Southside · TM88 · FnZ

Influence

Reasserted his commercial dominance a decade into his career.

Replay Value

High — front-loaded with strong songs.

Why it ranks here

Evol is eleven tracks of the sound Southside and Metro Boomin built on DS2, delivered with less urgency. "Low Life" with the Weeknd was a hit, and "Ain't No Time" and "In Her Mouth" are sharp. Billboard heard a dull malaise in it but still called it a joy; Pitchfork found slightly more misses than hits. It scored 68 on Metacritic.

Context

His fourth studio album, released February 6, 2016, a month after the Purple Reign mixtape. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Highlights

  • Ain't No Time
  • In Her Mouth
  • Xanny Family
  • Low Life
  • Lil Haiti Baby

Weak Spots

  • Few new ideas after DS2
  • Arrived amid so many releases that it felt minor

Production

Southside · Metro Boomin · TM88 · DJ Spinz · Ben Billions

Influence

Part of the 2015–16 flood that cemented Future's place at the top of rap.

Replay Value

Moderate to high — short enough to play through.

Why it ranks here

The self-titled album is the hard-edged half of Future's February 2017 double release. Southside and 808 Mafia handle most of the beats, Metro Boomin supplies "Mask Off" — a flute-driven smash and one of his biggest hits — and Zaytoven closes it out. It scored 67 on Metacritic; the highs are high, but seventeen tracks of similar tempo wear thin.

Context

His fifth studio album, released February 17, 2017. It debuted at No. 1, and Hndrxx followed a week later.

Highlights

  • Draco
  • Mask Off
  • Super Trapper
  • POA
  • Feds Did a Sweep

Weak Spots

  • Repetitive across seventeen tracks
  • No guests and little variety

Production

Southside · Metro Boomin · Zaytoven · DJ Spinz · DY

Influence

"Mask Off" became one of the defining rap songs of 2017.

Replay Value

Moderate — great singles, heavy as a whole.

Why it ranks here

The Wizrd runs twenty songs with only Young Thug, Gunna and Travis Scott as guests. Pitchfork found the minor-key production consistently beautiful, and XXL singled out "F&N" and "Faceshot", but also said it runs overlong. Rolling Stone noted it was the last album of his major-label deal and retold his story for newcomers. It scored 70 on Metacritic.

Context

His seventh studio album, released January 18, 2019 with an accompanying film. It debuted at No. 1, his sixth chart-topper.

Highlights

  • Never Stop
  • Jumpin on a Jet
  • Crushed Up
  • F&N
  • Faceshot

Weak Spots

  • Twenty tracks is too many
  • Good songs get lost in the length

Production

ATL Jacob · Wheezy · Southside · Tay Keith · Richie Souf

Influence

Confirmed his commercial consistency more than it moved the sound forward.

Replay Value

Moderate — best as a playlist of its strongest songs.

Why it ranks here

High Off Life piles on guests — Travis Scott, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, Drake, Lil Durk, Meek Mill — and runs past twenty tracks. "Life Is Good" with Drake reached No. 2 on the Hot 100, and "Trapped in the Sun" is a fine opener, but Rolling Stone later dismissed it as desultory. It scored 70 on Metacritic, though the reviews were lukewarm.

Context

His eighth studio album, released May 15, 2020 and executive produced by DJ Esco. It debuted at No. 1, his seventh chart-topper.

Highlights

  • Trapped in the Sun
  • Solitaires
  • Ridin Strikers
  • Life Is Good
  • Too Comfortable

Weak Spots

  • Bloated tracklist
  • Guests often outshine the host

Production

Southside · ATL Jacob · Wheezy · Will-A-Fool · DY

Influence

Mostly a vehicle for "Life Is Good", one of the biggest rap singles of 2020.

Replay Value

Low to moderate — the hits, then the skip button.

Why it ranks here

His first solo studio album in four years has no features and a title that suggests confession. Consequence felt it mostly returns to familiar territory instead of real self-examination, while Stereogum pointed to detours like the synth-funk "If I Could" and the Pharrell-produced house closer "Alice". It scored 62 on Metacritic from a small number of reviews.

Context

His tenth studio album, released July 10, 2026 through Freebandz and Epic. It debuted at No. 1 with 131,000 units, his twelfth chart-topper.

Highlights

  • Radio
  • California Girls
  • Konnichiwa
  • If I Could
  • Alice

Weak Spots

  • Twenty-two tracks with little new to say
  • The introspective framing is not borne out

Production

Wheezy · ATL Jacob · Southside · DJ Spinz · Pharrell Williams

Influence

Too new to judge, but its chart run confirmed his staying power after the Metro Boomin collaborations.

Replay Value

Moderate — a handful of keepers.

Essay

The Complete Picture

Future's best work sits between Honest and DS2, when Metro Boomin, Southside and Zaytoven gave his pain and paranoia a sound nobody else had. Hndrxx showed the melodic side could carry an album, and I Never Liked You proved he could still top the charts with a strong record. The rest are consistent, long and rarely surprising.

Start with DS2, then Monster. If you want the hooks, go to Honest; if you want the heartbreak, go to Hndrxx.
