The Best Atlanta Rap Albums

11 albums · Updated

Atlanta went from a place the coasts ignored to the city that sets rap's sound. OutKast proved in the 1990s that the South had its own music; the 2000s turned Atlanta into trap's capital; and in the 2010s its producers (Zaytoven, Metro Boomin, Southside, Pi'erre Bourne) shaped most of what played on the radio.

Here are the Atlanta records reviewed on the site, ranked by scorecard. We include artists who built their careers in the city even if they were born elsewhere, and say so in the note.

How this list works: Albums by Atlanta artists or made around the Atlanta scene, reviewed on the site, ranked by current score. Scores come from each review's six-part scorecard; see the methodology.
